Consultations and Designs

Whether you are thinking about putting in a brand new garden or want to make over your sleepy landscaping, we are here for you! With over 25 years of experience in agriculture, permaculture, and sustainable landscaping, we will design a landscape for you that produces healthy food for you and your family, provides vital habitat for native species, and offers a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Initial Consultation

The initial consultation usually takes between one and two hours. One of Edible Eden's skilled urban farmers will come to your home to perform a site assessment and discuss your growing goals, microclimates and opportunities.

Maybe you are an apartment dweller with an 8' x 10' balcony, getting started on a large in-ground garden, or looking to add containers and raised beds to your yard. Maybe your yard is shady, terrorized by deer, or on a steep slope. Whatever the case, we identify growing opportunities, brainstorm ideas with you, and share our expertise with growing food organically in all sorts of conditions.

After the initial consultation, we follow up with a proposal detailing different options for your space with time and material estimates.

Consultations outside of the Baltimore area may include an additional distance fee.

Design Packages and Garden Plans

Edible Eden offers permaculture style design packages for spaces as small as an urban patio and as large as a village. Designs include a to-scale illustrated map, prose documents explaining the various components of the design, and spreadsheets detailing materials, plants, quantities, estimated budgets, and timelines to implementation.

Working with Edible Eden on a permaculture design is a process of several weeks and ultimately generates a detailed road map to creating the outdoor space of your dreams.

We also offer vegetable garden plans using the same skills organic farmers use to maximize their growing space. Regardless of the size of your garden, our plans lay out a full growing season of successions and rotations so that you can produce more food from your space than you thought possible.

Depending on the desired design package, designs are drawn to scale by hand or with an online design software.
